Eddie Wilkes
Eddie has taught in a wide range of schools over 33 years. He worked for five years as a pastoral leader, followed by five years as a subject leader before moving into senior leadership. He has had spells as a head and executive head in 3 secondary schools over 11 years, achieving significant improvement in outcomes in each setting. In particular this includes taking a large secondary school from an Ofsted judgement of ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’ in just 12 months. Ofsted linked this rapid improvement to ‘inspirational leadership’.
As well as working within his own school settings, Eddie has always involved himself in the wider world of education. This includes working as an LLE, extensive coaching and mentoring experience and working on national steering groups for the 2012 Olympics and SEND. He has worked collaboratively to support school improvement in several schools and has led a local inclusion group aimed at supporting vulnerable pupils.
Central to Eddie’s philosophy is a belief that all pupils can achieve, that schools do make a difference to youngsters’ lives, and that schools leaders are the driving force in a school’s success.
